It’s no secret that this season has been painful for the Indianapolis Colts. But, as any true sports fan knows, loyalty to your favorite team runs much deeper than the season’s record. As a proud resident of the Indianapolis area, it’s important to me to continue to show my support for the boys in blue, even if they don’t win a game all year. Here are my tips for being an all-weather fan. Comfort is key. Whether you’re at Lucas Oil Stadium, the Blue Crew Sports Grill or watching the game from your favorite recliner at home, a Colts t-shirt, fleece or hoodie is the way to go. And, given that the weather in Indiana is more unpredictable than our injured list, I always opt for layers. Check out the apparel selections at the Colts Pro Shop. Show pride with your accessories. Even if you’re bundled up for an afternoon of tailgating, you can still look cute, feminine and fun with these Indianapolis Colts handmade earrings. By wearing these handmade earrings, which feature blue and white footballs adorned with solid sterling silver components, you can show support to the Indianapolis Colts through the good and bad times. Fuel the fun. If you’re hosting a SuperBowl party for 100 or just feeding your family dinner during the game, no one shows much team spirit on an empty stomach. Some of my favorite fall football recipes include Rachel Ray’s Sloppy Joes and Boilermaker Tailgate Chili. Pair either of these favorites with corn chips and your beverage of choice, and you’ll be sure to have a party pleaser. Stay connected. There’s more to every team than just a record. Stay connected with the team and other diehard fans. Check out the official Twitter of the Indianapolis Colts @nflcolts. There are also a number of unofficial fan groups--@ColtsFanClub, @coltsbuzztap and @ColtsFanZone are a few of my favorites. And while you’re online, don’t forget to follow Denise Ward Designs on Twitter and Facebook. Most importantly, be patient and stay loyal. Injuries will heal. Players come and go. Years from now, when the Colts have three more SuperBowl titles and Lucas Oil Stadium is outdated, you’ll be able to tell your kids that you were a fan even during the rotten years—way back in 2011. |
